Sports specific courses

| ATHLETICS | Level 1 Assistant Coach | Based around coaching skills, “how” to coach and a basic introduction to principles of the event group areas. |
| Level 2 Coach | Taken by coaches of all disciplines. Coaches will learn about the specific techniques involved in the events and how to coach them. | |
| Children in Athletics | Introduces the leader/coach to activities that are suitable to lead a group of children (aged 8 – 13) in athletics type activities. | |
| BADMINTON | Level 1 Assistant Coach | Gives candidates a good idea of how and what to coach to beginner players. Successful candidates can assist a qualified coach. |
| Level 2 Coach | Will qualify the successful candidate to coach junior beginners/junior club players and senior beginners/social/club players in the lower levels of local leagues. | |
| BASKETBALL | Coach Level 1 | Basic level of coaching qualification. Gives outline knowledge and enables the holder to introduce basketball/assist a Coach. |
| Coach Level 2 | A qualification for all club coaches working at local level. Gives an overview of all aspects of basketball, and an introduction to coaching techniques. | |
| Referee Level 1 | Qualifies holder as an apprentice referee to officiate at school and recreational games. | |
| Apprentice Table Official | Qualified to officiate at school and recreational games. | |
| CRICKET | Coaching Assistant (Level 1) |
Will qualify candidates to assist more qualified coaches delivering aspects of coaching sessions. |
| FENCING | Level 1 Assistant Coach | This allows a person just into coaching to have knowledge of health and safety, be insured and CRB cleared. It allows them to warm up beginners, give basic footwork lessons and teach basic strokes. It is considered a high enough qualification to allow coaches to be insured to work unsupervised. |
| FITNESS | British Weight Lifting Association Leaders Award | Instruction in planning, delivering and evaluating a beginners training session using free weights, exercise machines or a combination of both. You will cover warm-up, main work out and cool down. |
| OCR Exercise to Music | This qualification has been designed as an access route for people who want to work in the exercise and fitness industry. It provides evidence of an individual's competence in teaching exercise to music fitness sessions, and enables individuals to gain personal liability insurance. | |
| OCR Gym Instructors | The Instructing Exercise and Fitness NVQ Level 2 purpose is to teach how to bring about consistent improvements in participants level of physical fitness. Candidates will learn capability in planning, delivering and evaluating sessions in the context of Exercise and Fitness. | |
| Speed Agility Quickness (SAQ) | This generic course introduces the essentials of FUNdamental Movement training in an inclusive, multi-skill/non-sports-specific manner. Candidates will learn skills and drills that focus on speed, agility and quickness training. | |
| FOOTBALL | Coach Level 1 | An introduction for all coaches with little experience or knowledge. Participants need an interest in coaching and the motivation to improve their skills. |
| Coach Level 2 | If you have a few seasons relevant coaching experience, you may wish to fast-track and start at Level 2. | |
| Basic Referees | Delivered in a classroom style with elements of practical demonstration and audience participation where possible. Tier one consists of the teaching of Law only, followed by the second part where the candidate officiates three games to confirm their application of the theoretical training | |
| HOCKEY | Coach Level 1 | Minimum qualification required to assist in coaching hockey. Will provide the candidate with the knowledge and skills to run a safe session. |
| HOCKEY | Umpire Level 1 | Aimed at those who take their umpiring seriously and want to officiate in local leagues and club games/events. |
| GOLF | Tri Golf Activator/Golf Xtreme Training | |
| LACROSSE | Umpire Course | Become a qualified umpire by learning the rules, regulations, movements, positioning and how to control the game. |
| NETBALL | Coach Level 1 | Enables participants to help groups of beginners to play and practice in a safe and enjoyable environment. |
| Beginner Umpire | Suitable for anybody who would like to learn to umpire junior or league matches. No previous experience is required. | |
| C Umpire | To prepare umpires with knowledge of rules and competencies to umpire at average adult club level. | |
| POWERBOAT | Instructors | Guide to self-sufficient powerboating at a basic level. Course includes launching, mooring, anchoring and recovery. |
| ROWING | Coach Level 2 | The level 2 certificate in Coaching Rowing is the entry level qualification for individuals wanting to coach on the water (there is no level 1 certificate). The award is aimed at individuals who have as a minimum some previous experience of rowing. |
| RUGBY | Coach Level 1 | Enables coaches who are working with adult players to develop the game and coach with more awareness, confidence and quality. |
| Foundation Referee | The course content includes both theory and practical sessions relating to all areas of the art of refereeing. | |
| SWIMMING | Helpers Certificate | This is an introductory award to teaching swimming. Candidates will learn the basic skills and progression to assist in teaching. |
| TENNIS | Coach Level 1 | The Development Coach Award (DCA) is the Level 1 coaching qualification. It is designed for coaches interested in working with beginners and improvers, in clubs and schools. It includes N/SVQ Level 2 Coaching, Teaching and Instructing Tennis. |
| TRAMPOLINING | Coach Level 1 | Includes development of the basic skills, Front & back drops as well as the teaching & development of Front & Back somersaults. |
| VOLLEYBALL | Coach Level 1 | Will be able to introduce volleyball, through a progression of small-sided games, to a group of inexperienced adults or children. |

| Youth Sports Trust | Tops Play/Sport | This course is designed for teachers and those undertaking teacher training. Top Play/Top Sport is a teaching/coaching qualification recognised by all LEAs in England. īTOPS` is a 4 hour course through which you will enhance your knowledge and understanding of games in the National Curriculum for PE. Additionally you will develop your ability to teach a range of games at key stages 1 & 2. |
